The Beginning

April 30th, 2008

I was rezzed on March 24, 2008.  I had heard about the Second Life world for years, but not being a game player, I figured there was nothing for me here.  After reading about yet another person making over $100,000 a year, I had to check it out.  After leaving learning to walk, drive and fly on the Help and Orientation Islands, I went exploring.  I understand a lot of Newbies get stuck there, but I had no problems.

I was hooked.  Just seeing the builds that people made, was quite exciting.  Such imagination! Such talent!  I do not have any experience with building in 3D, so I have a lot to learn.  So far, I can rez a box, add a texture to it and throw in some free scripts I found like; visitor counter, note card/landmark giver, and teleporter.

I didn’t quite know what to do there except use the search engine.  The first search I made was for Linux.  There are a few groups, but no one was around right then.  I did get a free Linux Penguin t-shirt and promptly put it on. Exploring has to be my favorite thing to do.

The people that I have met have all been very nice and helpful. On my second day, after searching for classical music, I found the peaceful and inviting summer house of Yavanna Llanfair, which you can get your own copy for just $L50.  She has a lovely open-air dance floor with a piano that you can change to different types of music.   She appeared while I was enjoying the music and surroundings welcomed me to her charming home in the Second Life world.

It was obvious to her that I was a newbie and she gave me some good advice about buying on the mainland instead of an island where I would not be the real owner.  I know she doesn’t usually do this but she offered me a dance.  It was surreal to watch the avatars dancing while we chatted.  She had three dances out that I saw: ballroom, waltz and slow dance.  Her place is very nice and romantic and is a must visit.   She has a parcel radio for sale (I got one), among other things and you must take the tour to her skybox.

Hello World

This is my blog.  There are many like it, but this one is mine.  I am WallDog Waters and I exist as an entity in the Second Life world.
